BE Jesus.

Last night I had the opportunity to hear a Christian guy speak, who used to be a Buddhist. He spoke about how to evangelize to Thai Buddhists, and how to present the Gospel in a way that made sense to their beliefs and culture. It sparked a conversation among some of us in attendance and sparked some thoughts in my own mind...a comment was made by a very wise individual who I am blessed to have finally met, that especially because of cultural differences and language barriers, the only option is to really BE Jesus. This person commented that Jesus said a lot more with His actions, than his words. I started to wonder if my actions were a good representation of the Jesus that I profess to believe in and follow, and I wondered...sometimes I get really overwhelmed and frustrated at the communication barrier, and I'm sure that frustration gets portrayed in my facial expressions and body language. Something to think about and work on as I interact with and journey through life with the people here.

Random highlights of my past week include:
  • One of the nannies is trying to lose weight and I showed her a few things the other day...like lunges, wall sits, that double leg stretch from pilates, etc. It was fun to be exercising with her while the kids napped!
  • Found a gelato place with Nikki...it brought back good memories of sitting in Cafe Gelatto, either studying or chatting with friends. People still in Canton, enjoy that place while you're living there! Drink a raspberry mocha for me.
  • Yesterday 7 little ones from the government orphanage moved over to Agape...I was so excited to meet these new children, and Chaiyapon was as well, as he gave one of the little babies a kiss right away! He is so affectionate.
Our latest arrivals...slightly overwhelmed at all the new faces looking at them!
Other random pictures to enjoy:

God's majesty displayed. I love the scenery that surrounds me here!
My cousin Melanie sent me a package and the kids helped me open it - thank you so much Mel, and to the Tobiks who sent me a package earlier in September! You all are the best!
How can you not love this face???
There was more flooding in Chiang Mai this past week...I'm so over rain.

Prayer requests for the week:
  • Please continue to lift up my trip to Laos to renew my visa, which is coming up Oct 12-14.
  • Pray for the new babies at Agape, that their transition to a new place and new faces would be smooth, and God would continue to watch over these precious children.
  • Pray that I would really learn what it means to BE Jesus to those around me.
  • Pray for the ministry at Agape, for God's blessing and His will to be done through the people He has placed there.
  • Pray for the people of Chiang Mai affected by the recent flooding, that God would provide for their needs and help them learn to trust in His sovereignty.
